My child has psoriasis. How will this affect his life?
Parents' immediate reaction would be to feel terribly sorry for such a child and you are tempted to be overly protective towards the child.
Psoriasis is often triggered by traumatic experiences, such as:
Divorce
Death of a family member or friend
Exposure to narcotics
Serious disease
Serious accident.
Encourage them to follow a balanced diet.
Consult your doctor immediately should they suffer from a throat infection, because throat infections may trigger psoriasis outbreaks.
Help them not to become obsessed with psoriasis. You may find that the fear of psoriasis may be enough to act as a trigger.
Help them not to use their psoriasis as a crutch on which to hang their failures.
